I believe that if John were to endorse, he would do it at a podium, and take the opportunity |
|
to make significant and meaningful remarks. An endorsement by Edwards would be worthy of press coverage and a press conference.
It doesn't wash, that he would endorse on a late night TV program.
He may want to talk about the new anti-war organization he is partnering with, to let people know what he and Elizabeth are doing, etc.
I predict that John will not endorse on Leno.

The only person I can think of who's made a major political announcement on a talk show was Fred Thompson -- didn't he announce his candidacy on Jay Leno? And we all know how serious his campaign turned out to be...

2. Look, let's be honest here. Edwards is in political limbo. If he is serious about |
|
remaining in the political, elected, sphere, then he needs to project and appear "statesman like".
Having "candidate" status and appearing on Leno, is much much different than "citizen" status.
I think this is a first attempt to move away from the "former candidate" label, and to start to create a new image in the mind of the voter. He needs more active associations on his resume. Former candidate, has little shelf life in this pop culture of ours.

3. Didn't John announce his presidential candidacy in 2003 on The Daily Show? |

But I still don't think he is going to endorse anyone on Leno.
