John Lewis and OccupyAtlanta

TishaLa (who doesn't have a donor star) would like to start this conversation about what she sees as the mistreatment of John Lewis at OccupyAtlanta.

"John Lewis, as you may know, went to the event and asked to speak. And guess what? The protesters couldn't reach consensus about whether Mr Lewis, an incredibly heroic figure, could address them! I mean...I watched the video and I was gobsmacked. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3QZlp3eGMNI

I love the OWS movement and I think it encapsulates some of the best things about progressivism, but, sadly, it seems to also encapsulate some of the worst, one of which is an unconscious amount of white privilege, etc., etc., etc."

2. I'll have to hear him speak on this before I can form an opinion

as to whether he felt disrespected or what...so I must reserve comments at this time.

Lewis was only supposed to be there for a short time. He was "allowed" to speak at the end but he had to go.

Apparently, he's not the slightest bit angry about any of this. Again, this is according to Joan Walsh.
