Trumad's thread just proved unable to pass up for some who cannot help but feel discriminated against by their white male status.

I was so angry at this post below that several times I opened up the text reply window and had to close it down. I honestly just don't know what to say.

I didn't know where to begin. I can't tell if they're mad because they aren't rich white guys, or they're mad because they realize that they possess an unfair social advantage and aren't rich. :shrug:

His post was soooo pathetic. I'm sure my reply will be deleted but whiny whites who feel they are being discriminated against make me furious. Yeah, it's normal to be upset when you see someone else get a freeby that you can't get because of race or gender or whatever, but you've got to step back and put it in perspective.

And yes, that whites actually do TO A TINY EXTENT have it better in a country where they are the majority. Reason being is that there is still a lot of un-easiness that many whites feel toward black folks due to the higher number of blacks in prison.

That's a new one! It never seemed to dawn on the writer that maybe the higher number of blacks in prison might be strong evidence that whites have it a whole lot better.

One city may have a murder every day another every other year but crime happens everywhere. They both face hardships therefore they suffer equally. So let's not do anything to improve the situation in the most dangerous neighborhoods.

14. I'm calling it White Validation Week at DU

It comes in spurts, where several threads will pop up, written by those wishing to vent that long held grudge...

This recent spat of poor white me threads began last week. Starting in one direction and then they all centered themselves into a single theme. (poor put upon white me)

There was one deleted early on asking, "Is Condi Rice this generations Sally Hemmings?". I voiced my opinion to a moderator on that one. If you missed the thread count yourself fortunate.

The threads have been intensifying all week, getting a little more ...shall we say..honest in their intent...as the week went by...

the threads challenging the poor white me threads are shaking the tree nicely...all kinds of things are falling out.

what's so infuriating is no matter how often you try to explain a simple concept...white skin (all by itself) is an advantage in a racist society....some people just refuse to understand. It's not that they can't grasp it...they refuse to grasp it.

gollygee made an easy point for people to follow (paraphrasing)....if you believe black people are discriminated against...then how can you not believe that white privilege exist?

However, even that comment ...beautiful in it's simplicity...failed to penetrate the minds of some.
