| What do you think about the current "Food for Oil" "Scandal" ? |
|
and the constant references to Kofi Annan and his son when it is discussed by the Media Presstitutes and GOP agents?
My opinion is that this is a diversion that serves many purposes.
1. It provides fodder to the U.S. media propaganda machine in its attempt to undermind the U.N. as an honest broker as it relates to the opinion that the majority of its body had about invading Iraq as well as future endeavors. It also allows the Righteous Republicans to be able to say "I told you so".
2. It diverts attention from the real scandal...."Halliburton and other contractors currently getting rich from our tax dollars and an unjust war. 3. It demonizes a black man (anan) who rose into U.N. power via a ligitimate route. It further demonizes his son without yet a shred of bonafide evidence (the investigations are still going on). We only hear the talking mouths of Republican representative trashing them both whenever the subject of this "Scandal" is brought up.
4. The "Scandal" serves to implicate the French President. Since it has been repeated time and time again that the French were against the Iraq war because of their vested economic interests....this sort of pressure will assist in getting France to reduce the huge Iraq debt they are owed....Meaning more money for Halliburton and its friends. It also serves as a revenge payback and the further undermining of the French.
5. It illustrates that the Republicans are the biggest hypocrits that walk the earth, as they talk endlessly about "accountability" when it comes to President Annan, while they forgive George Bush for everything and anything. Bush is allowed to have someone else take the heat for all of his mistakes, lies and incompentence....while Koffi is held to a higher standard...and made responsible for an alleged "Scandal" that he may or may not have any control or knowledge about.
6. Although there are no conclusive reports based on any investigations, the Media is treating this "Scandal" as they did Whitewater....a lot of talk and very little evidence. The American people are buying the "payback" actions of the Bush Government against the U.N. and really don't have a clue as to what happened apart from what Fox channel is feeding them. This is not to say that everyone is innocent in this. However, I think that we really don't know what "is" "is" at this point.
7. The manipulation of American opinion by the U.S. propaganda machine is again in full gear, and the media is again asleep at the switch. It is my contention that the U.S. media stinks like 10 year old piece of French Camembert!
What are your thoughts on this?

you name, Frenchie. There were American names blacked out on the published list of the Oil for Food profiteers and since then details directly linking our vp's company with the same and other dealings with Hussein have (barely) come to light.
Our current leader is good to his word and repays loyalty. This attack on the UN, something the other side reviles, is more of that, imo.
I notice the media behaves like scatterbrained kids with short attention spans. Here they are concentrating on Annan and not the most egregious offenders just as they concentrated on Dan Rather instead of the issue he brought forward, the prosecution of journalists instead of what Wilson's statements proved, etc. It just goes on and on, as if they're strictly reporting in the moment with no subtext.
