Today John Spencer from West Wing died of a heart attack. It's very sad news because Mr. Spencer was only 58 and he was a good liberal, etc. Notice of his death is in LBN so you can offer condolences.
The same could not be said, however, when John H. Johnson, who founded Ebony and Jet magazines, died earlier this year. Or when Luther Vandross, like Mr. Spencer an entertainer who died very young, died.
I'm curious about this juxtaposition so I'm hoping someone can offer a reasonable rationale for it.

I'm sure that the majority of the people on here haven't a clue what Ebony is other the the wood or a shade. So they would definitely not know who the publisher was.
Luther and Mr. Johnson's deaths were posted in this group. Unfortunately, these two very different, but wonderful men are not part of the mainstream reality of DU.
At least we have AA where we don't have to constantly explain or defend our posts.

I believe the news of Mr. Johnson's death was placed back in LBN, but it's just a real shame how out of touch white America is with the accomplishments of black Americans.
