DAMN! IT'S DENNY'S AGAIN!

DAMN! IT'S DENNY'S AGAIN!

Will Denny's ever get it's act together or is it cursed ? They don't like to seat minorities, especially black customers and people keep getting shot in the joint. I have never eaten at Denny's and I never will. But can someone tell me WHAT is the attraction of this popular family food chain? Is it the food, the bad conduct of the employees, the affordability of a turkey plate or it's systemic failed health inspections? Or should I say, "it's something in the water"?

There is even a "Project Denny's" ! Their mission? To visit as many Denny's as possible "before I die".

Good luck!

Man shot dead at Calif. Denny's restaurant

ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) — A gunman opened fire early Friday at a Denny's restaurant, killing one man and seriously wounding another, police said. It was the third fatal shooting at the restaurant chain in Southern California this week.

The 2:45 a.m. shooting happened after a fight between two large groups inside the restaurant, said Sgt. Rick Martinez of the Anaheim Police Department. (On Deadline: Death finds SoCal Denny's again)

One victim re-entered the restaurant after being shot and died inside, Martinez said. The other victim was taken to a hospital and was expected to survive.

The gunman was being sought by authorities. The shooting did not appear to be gang-related, Martinez said.

The shooting was the third in a Southern California Denny's in three days. In Pismo Beach on Wednesday, a transient with two guns walked into the restaurant at lunchtime, fatally shot two men and wounded a married couple before committing suicide.

3. Jeepers, what is it with this chain?? I saw the beautiful black
PR woman they've hired but what kind of place IS this? Has anyone here eaten at one...oh, wait, I better be careful. Businesses can sue me for defamation even though I can't sue them if I get food poisining so with that in mind, Denny's must have some gooooood eats for folks to wanna eat there so bad! Yum, yum, gotta love that pork sausage!!

4. A story of a local Denny's w/ a huge black clientele

I discovered this Denny's quite by accident.

One night after shopping late with a gf, we decided to go to a Denny's near our apt for a bite. We were deep in conversation, but seemed to continually hear bass music. It was kind of faint, so I assumed it was coming from a car in the parking lot. That theory was put to rest when a door in the back of the restaurant swung open to reveal the music was obviously coming from within.

As I looked around the restaurant, no one seemed concerned that there was dance music in a Denny's. My gf and I were even more taken aback that no one else seemed at all surprised.

Next thing, the door swings open again. Loud music fills the restaurant and what should come out? An elderly black gentleman, dressed to the nines, cruisin' the room like he's looking for someone to hit on. Seriously, it was a played out player lookin' dude, (I'll call him Mack Daddy Smooth). He stepped around the restaurant doing his best pimp walk. My gf and I just sat there, stunned.

We finally asked a waitress and were told there was a club in the back of the restaurant. :wow:

:wtf: Are you kidding me? There's a CLUB in a Denny's?!

I couldn't take it anymore. I got up and practically ran to the door, where the music was. I flung it open and went in. Within I saw a darkened room, illuminated with some red lights and a disco ball. There were a few booths, the tiniest dance floor you've ever seen, a dj in the corner smashed against the wall and a bunch of elderly black women and men wearing their best clothes--gettin' their mack on! Again--:wow:

Apparently this Denny's does a big business with these folks coming in Thursday through Sunday nights getting their party on. Had I not been there to see it myself, I never would have believed such a thing. The craziest thing I've ever encountered.

Oh and I almost forgot, every twenty minutes or so, Mack Daddy Smooth made his way through the restaurant--for his pimp glide. I don't know if he was seeking someone to chat up, or just wanted everyone to see how FINE he was.

Sorry this is so long. LOL. Personally, I find Denny's food to be completely repellant in every way. But that's just me. :hi:

6. LOL!
Apparently that particular Denny's has featured the club for several years. I encountered it in 1995 or '96. I called today to see if it was still there. It is still going strong.

I wonder if Mack Daddy Smooth is still taking his walk of shame? ;)

8. You should have seen him--
Girl, he was a mess--he had that tilted to the side, pimped out, player walk...and this real serious expression on his face. Only thing missing was the hat, cocked over one eye!!

Envisioning it just makes me lmao! I've got to give it to him, though. He was dressed so nice--as he glided by our table I noticed he smelled good too. He was ON his game!

9. On his game at a Denny's...
makes ya wonder, doesn't it? Just how big a part did (or does) the night life play in his life? I was at gathering recently and was (I'm ashamed to admit) surprised to see how many truly senior folk were out there gettin' their groove on. They were serious and I'm not talkin' about to the oldies, I'm talkin' Sean Jean! You could see in their faces how much they loved all of it - the dressing up, the crowd, losing themselves to the music - and, girl they had the feelin' - the hips and shoulders, the attitude - so I sat right on down, outdone. :)

10. Oh no they didn't...!
LOL! I absolutely LOVE to see that! People enjoying themselves, dancing--good times! Inevitably they always start throwin' down with old dance moves....someone yells out,..."HE-ey! Watch out now!" Just too cute.

Girl, I can't believe you didn't hang with 'em...;)
