A bit O/T A request for World Aids Day...
Edited on Fri Dec-01-06 03:34 AM by bliss_eternal
Given that so many African Americans are affected by HIV and AIDS in our country, I hope that some here will indulge me in my effort, for a favor. :) I do sincerely apologize for this being a bit off topic, and ask that our forum moderators will allow this.

There are a few threads circulating on the boards that I would love to see make it to the main page of DU. Let's show those that visit DU that progressive Dems hearts are in the right place. Please click on any (or all) of these links, and kick and/or nominate these threads for the main page. It would be fantastic if they not only make the main page, but stay there for the duration of World Aids Day!

I was personally touched by this post (taken from an article). It really seems to exemplify the spirit of what it was like to work with the patients affected by AIDS in the early days of the epidemic:

The above is an informative site, and shows staggering statistics of how many people of color (specifically those of Hispanic and African American descent)are affected by AIDS, including members of the LGBT community. The numbers of those in Africa affected by AIDS is mind blowing. I won't personally get into how many children that are members of these communities and affected.)

Speaking of children w/AIDS:

Thank you All!
