Has anyone seen this foolishness?
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=132x8178603

I honestly thought this essay from Pat Buchanan must have been written in 1974, let alone at any point during the 21st century.

And to say that I'm astounded that there is at least one poster trying their hardest to find "reason" and "grounds for debate" with what Pat has written is a genuine understatement. The man's comments were so idiotic, offensive and devoid of thought that David Duke himself put them front and center on his home page and yet, we're supposed to "debate" what Pat has written.

1. wow...I posted on that thread but never went back and read the
comments. Some people are fucking delusional. Africans were doing just fine however they were living before they were picked up, raped, beaten, murdered on a 3 month ride to america. Shackled on slave ships like cattle...don't get me started! :grr:

3. Exactly. And yet, we're supposed to find this worthy of "discussion" and "debate"
What in God's name is there to debate with a man who honestly believes that slavery has led black folks in America to "the good life????"

5. The presumption in such a premise is unbelieveable!
And yet when you point it out all you hear crickets.

It would appear that the racist apologists have moved on to finding ways to twist themselves in knots to defend that NY Post cartoon. There's a rather prolific individual who not only insists that the cartoon isn't racist but all the people who think it is are somehow missing some greater point.

He had the nerve to think his "point" was over my head. My ignore list has just grown, I do not have the patience to school this person. I have no patience for imbeciles.

6. I know exactly of whom you speak
I also had a run-in with this clown. We'll call him Hippocrates -- partly because of his DU handle but also because it sounds like what he is, which is a hypocritical idiot. :)

I refuse to put anyone on ignore though. To me, that would be like admitting there was someone here that I couldn't handle and I haven't come across anyone yet that I felt like I couldn't handle.

7. Yeah I see your point.
My ignore list isn't very long and I generally reserve it for people I find just odious. I like to think of it as a time out corner. They were so obnoxious that I need a break so in they go. But after awhile if I see a thread full of "ignored" I will start letting people out so I can see what I'm missing. Oddly enough that doesn't happen much. I either don't run into them or they end up getting the boot I guess.

Otherwise, I may end up saying something I ought not. Although today I did tell someone to piss off because I was done with them. I hate when people get nasty on me. I really try not to be outright nasty when I post so once it starts I get nasty right back and then I know that they need to go to the corner for awhile.

Regards

9. Well, according to that idiot
he never gets nasty until someone gets nasty with him first. Never mind the fact that he got nasty with me after I merely asked him a few questions and tried to get him to see how faulty his logic was. I actually went out of my way NOT to be nasty to him and let him know that, and he still came at me. Go figure.

But every time I started to get too annoyed, all I had to do was look downthread and see the 600 posts where people were literally flaying his dumb@ss ALIVE and I felt much, much better. :)

4. Don't know which is worse
that an obvious racist like Buchanan is still a commentator, or the defense of racism passed off as the "need to debate" or "racism is past" as read down the thread. A counterpart black commentator would never be defended like that and would have been fired a long time ago.

The thread also shows that there's no such thing as an ex-freeper IMO. :eyes:

11. Don't know about you--
but I'm still surprised when I encounter progressives that listen to him, Coulter, Limbaugh, Imus, etc. I just don't get it. How can anyone listen to (or watch) these people spew such filth about humanity?
