Reservist IA dies in vehicle crash in KuwaitStaff report

A reserve sailor serving as an individual augmentee died Thursday in Kuwait in a motor vehicle collision, according to a Navy Reserve spokesman.
Master-at-Arms 2nd Class Brian M. Patton, 37, of Freeport, Ill., was assigned to the Operation Iraqi Freedom/Operation Enduring Freedom Law and Order Detachment, which provides protective services in the war zone, according to Lt. Cmdr. Doug Gabos, a spokesman for Navy Reserve Forces Command in Norfolk, Va.
The collision occurred about 9:45 a.m. local time Thursday near Camp Virginia in Kuwait, Gabos said.
Another sailor in Patton’s vehicle was injured, as was a civilian contractor in the other vehicle involved, he said. The injured sailor and contractor were taken to an expeditionary medical facility. No other details about the collision were available.
Patton enlisted in July 1993. His awards include the National Defense Service Medal and Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal.
