Lejeune Marine dies in Afghanistan

A North Carolina-based Marine was killed Tuesday in Afghanistan, according to the Defense Department.

Lance Cpl. Jonathan A. Taylor, 22, of Jacksonville, Fla., died supporting combat operations in Helmand province. A rifleman, he was assigned to Fox Company, 2nd Battalion, 2nd Marines, out of Camp Lejeune.

Taylor, who had deployed previously to Iraq from April to November of last year, joined the Corps in February 2008, according to a spokesman for II Marine Expeditionary Force at Lejeune.

No other information was immediately available.
