CHARLESTON, S.C. — The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating a collision in Charleston Harbor involving a 25-foot Coast Guard boat and a commercial catamaran.
The federal agency said Monday it has sent a team to investigate the accident that happened Saturday evening, not long after the annual Christmas Parade of Boats down the Cooper River.
The Coast Guard evacuated 24 passengers from the catamaran. Three passengers were hurt but there were no deaths.
The Coast Guard said the catamaran suffered some damage to its hull above the water line but the Coast Guard vessel was not damaged.
The weather was fair at the time.
