NORFOLK, Va. — A Virginia Beach woman will spend more than three years in prison for stealing $750,000 from the Navy Exchange Service Command.
Glenda Roberts had pleaded guilty in September to one felony count of theft of government property. The 49-year-old was sentenced Monday in U.S. District Court in Norfolk.
According to court documents, Roberts took the money from 2001-08 while working as a civilian accounting manager for the Navy Exchange. She created fake invoices for bogus companies and submitted them to the Navy Exchange for payment.
Naval auditors discovered the scheme.
