The Air National Guard missed its recruiting goal in November, but the Air Force and Air Force Reserve each met theirs, the Defense Department announced Monday.
The Guard recruited 534 new airmen, 76 percent of its goal of 700.
Officials said the Guard slowed its recruiting efforts because it is projected to come in over its budgeted end-strength. The component ended fiscal 2009 with 109,196 airmen, more than 2 percent above its authorized end-strength of 106,756.
The Air Force recruited 2,894 new airmen in November, 100 percent of its goal. The Air Force Reserve reported 758 new recruits, 166 percent of its goal of 457.
