CHERRY HILL, N.J. — Authorities say the driver of a car lost control and crashed, killing a fighter pilot who was trimming a tree outside his New Jersey home.
Air Force Lt. Col. Mark Jennings piloted F-16 fighter jets over Iraq. The 44-year-old lived in Cherry Hill with his wife, an Air Force lieutenant, for nearly a year.
The driver, Stephen Moffa, also died in Monday’s crash.
Police say Moffa was driving at a “high rate of speed” when the 41-year-old lost control of his 2006 Pontiac GTO.
Police say the car swerved to the right, hitting a utility pole and Jennings. Witnesses said the impact threw Jennings some 200 feet.
