LINCOLN, Neb. — Nebraska National Guard officials plan to move into their new headquarters in 2012, now that $24.5 million in federal funding has been appropriated.
The money was included in the $1.1 trillion spending bill approved by the Senate on Sunday. President Barack Obama is expected to sign the measure.
Nearly $2 million in federal funding had been appropriated previously.
The headquarters will be built at the Air National Guard base at Lincoln Airport. It will house top brass for the Army National Guard, the Air National Guard, the Nebraska Emergency Management Agency and communications operations for the Nebraska State Patrol.
Construction is expected to begin in spring and be finished in 2012.
