SCHENECTADY, N.Y. — Police say a soldier from Kentucky has been charged with fatally shooting an upstate New York man who was dating the soldier’s ex-wife.
Schenectady police say 27-year-old Raymond Van Clief of Lousiville, Ky., shot Elijah Trainer during a confrontation outside Trainer’s home about 5 p.m. Wednesday.
Trainer, who turned 28 Monday, was pronounced dead at Ellis Hospital.
Officers found Van Clief nearby soon after the shooting. He has been charged with second-degree murder.
Police said Thursday morning that they didn’t know if Van Clief had a lawyer.
