Lance cpl. dies in nonhostile incident

CAMP LEJEUNE, N.C. — The Department of Defense has identified a North Carolina-based Marine from California killed in Afghanistan.

The Pentagon said Thursday that Lance Cpl. Omar G. Roebuck of Moreno Valley, Calif., died Tuesday as a result of a non-hostile incident in Helmand province, Afghanistan. Roebuck was assigned to the 2nd Combat Engineer Battalion, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force in Camp Lejeune.

Roebuck was 23 years old.
