3 Carson soldiers victims of Afghan bomb attackThe Associated Press

FORT CARSON, Colo. — The Defense Department says three Fort Carson soldiers were victims of an attack by insurgents in Afghanistan.
They were identified Tuesday as 24-year-old Sgt. Joshua A. Lengstorf of Yoncalla, Ore.; 24-year-old Spc. Brian R. Bowman of Crawfordsville, Ind.; and 19-year-old Pvt. John P. Dion of Shattuck, Okla.
The military says they died Sunday from wounds they suffered when their unit was attacked with improvised explosives and small-arms fire.
They were assigned to 1st Battalion, 12th Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division.
Also killed in the attack was 24-year-old Senior Airman Bradley R. Smith, of Troy, Ill., assigned to the 10th Air Support Operations Squadron at Fort Riley, Kan. The unit coordinates air support of ground operations between Air Force and Army units.
