MADISON, Wis. — The first members of the Wisconsin Army National Guard’s 32nd Infantry Brigade Combat Team are scheduled to touch down in the state after a tour in Iraq.
About 115 soldiers from the Fort Atkinson-based Troop A, 105th Calvary, are scheduled to land Tuesday afternoon at Volk Field. Guard officials, a military band and family members will greet them. Then it’s on to Fort McCoy for five days of demobilization.
About 3,200 members of the 32nd and a half-dozen other Wisconsin Army National Guard units left in February for Iraq in the largest deployment of state National Guard forces since World War II.
The remaining soldiers will return to Wisconsin on multiple flights throughout January.
