Marine arrested after woman found dead

SAN DIEGO — Authorities say a Marine has been arrested on suspicion of murder in the death of an 18-year-old San Diego County woman believed to be his wife.

San Diego police homicide Lt. Kevin Rooney says the woman’s body was found Tuesday morning in a Mira Mesa apartment.

Rooney says there were no obvious signs of trauma, but several things in the apartment suggested it was a murder.

Lance Cpl. Patrick Poteat was arrested Tuesday afternoon in San Bernardino County.

Rooney says police discovered the body after a friend of Poteat called 911, saying Poteat asked him to call police and have them check the apartment.
