Four teenage children of airmen at Yokota Air Base, Japan, reportedly will not face attempted murder charges for an incident in which they allegedly caused a woman to crash a motorcycle and fracture her skull.
The Japan Times reported that one 19-year-old male suspect will face charges of obstruction of traffic and causing injury. The other three children, aged 15 to 17, were not indicted and were handed over to U.S. authorities, the report stated.
Yokota spokesman Maj. Chris Watt confirmed to Air Force Times that the four teens had been released from Japanese custody, and three of them would not face charges. He said the fourth teen “may still be facing charges.”
The suspects were arrested Dec. 5 by Yokota security forces in connection with the Aug. 13 incident. The teens allegedly strung a rope across a road that caused the woman to crash her vehicle.
