Bomb in Iraq kills Fort Hood soldier

WASHINGTON — A bombing in Iraq has killed a 22-year-old soldier.

The Pentagon on Thursday announced the death of Spc. David A. Croft Jr. of Plant City, Fla. The Defense Department says Croft died Tuesday in Baghdad of wounds suffered when insurgents attacked his unit with an improvised bomb and gunfire.

Croft was assigned to the 1st Squadron, 7th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, Texas.
