I memorized it as an assignment in fifth grade, many years ago. It still gives me goose bumps.

November 11 was called Armistice Day and we attended school. A girl was assigned to read that poem every year. AT 11 A.M.(the time the war was officially over) factory whistles blew for one minute and we stood up and bowed our heads in remembrance of those who were killed. It was a solemn act. Today it is a just another day off to go shopping.
