Gore won't endorse

Sources: Gore won't endorse

(CNN) – He's the most prominent Democrat yet to take a side in the presidential election, but two sources close to Al Gore tell us not to expect the former vice president to endorse either Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama any time during the primary season.

The sources say Gore talks with both Clinton and Obama, and is on good terms with both. But with Sen. John Kerry and Bill Clinton both aligned to a candidate, Gore has a role to serve as the neutral elder statesman in the party.

If an agreement needs to be struck between Clinton and Obama down the road, Gore is in position to be the likely facilitator of that discussion.

1. It makes sense, doesn't it?
There is a similar thread up front. I would bet that it was Gore who convinced the two numnuts to actually start acting like leaders and stop tearing each other apart last month before the last debate.

Sigh.

2. You know what I keep thinking
This is the perfect answer as to why it was a good decision for Bill not to have stumped more for Al.

Remember there was a lot of criticism that Al should have had Bill stump for him in 2000. Well, look at the treatment that Bill is getting on the campaign trail now whether it is entirely warranted or not. He's been a little bit of a loose cannon from time to time, and looking back on the atmosphere of the press then, boy, I think it confirms that Al did the right thing.

fwiw, I always thought it was "numbnuts".

P.S. I'm back online. After over a month of very limited access to the internet after moving across country, I'm back baby. Glad to see you and the others still here. :loveya:

4. So do I!
It's setting up the home office that's taking forever. It's more a problem of not knowing my way around. I had to get paper and toner and wasn't sure where the computer/office supply stores were in this area. It has been a lot easier with the internet. I'm almost getting to the point where I'm productive. Up until the day we got an internet connection I had been doing the "I hope there's a store like the one I need down this street". Not a very productive method of doing things and it was very time-consuming.

But, now that we're here, you'll have a place to stay if want. We're located near the metro (train) that takes you all over the area. I drop my dearly beloved off every morning at the nearby station and it drops him off a block or so from work. Very nice. btw, we've cut our gasoline consumption dramatically. I filled up the car once in January when we got here and didn't fill it up again this past Sunday. That's less than a tank of a gas a month! We were careful about our consumption before we moved here but even then we were filling up about three times a month.

It's good to be back and to see that everyone is still in good spirits.

6. We're all doing well
We're adjusting. It's been a bit of a culture shock. The cashiers at the Safeway were arguing about whether Brittany Spears broke up with Justin Whoever or whether he broke up with her. I can't imagine the cashiers at Dillon's talking like that. Most of the libraries are closed on Sunday! Can you imagine?

The pups are loving it. They seem to prefer having to watch only two people (and just me most of the time) than having to keep track of a houseful of people. They're so relaxed that they are even sharing a food bowl now. Kramer no longer stands guard over her own bowl. Now she wanders down and eats whenever she wants and then leaves. She spends most of the day sleeping on our bed upstairs. They've still got water bowls all over the house and they seem to like not having to wander too far to get a drink of water. We've got a fenced backyard but they all know how to escape. All they've done so far is get out of the backyard and then fall asleep on the front lawn. We've got really lazy dogs. I take that back. Skala will get out of the backyard, crawl through the bushes out front and then watch me through the big living room window. It's a game for her.

The Admiral has lost some weight. He takes Skala for two mile walks every morning and several times during the week in the evenings with the little ones. The smaller dogs don't seem as enthusiastic about getting up every morning at 5 and so they are content with their weekend and evening strolls. There are several nearby trails. The closest one is only a couple of blocks away and they love it.

All I can say is, this is what I imagine living in Johnson County is like (except for the convenient green space - we know how JoCo loves concrete). Most stores are in strip malls that are brightly lit and poorly planned. People drive fast and like their horns. I've also noticed a dearth of middle-aged hippies like ourselves. I really miss that. I went to the organic market last week and they was not a pair of Birkenstocks in sight! At least I don't have to drive 45 minutes to get Popeye's Chicken anymore. There's one about ten minutes away. I get to eat it while the Admiral is at work.

btw, the Admiral has to walk down K Street every morning from the closest Metro station to his office. His office is between K and I streets and about a block and half from the White House. He hasn't seen any congress critters in the area but he figures it's because they do business with the lobbyists over the phone.

9. Good to see you back!
We have definitely lost (cough cough) a few daily peeps here in the Gore forum but there is still a die-hard crew hanging out. Glad to hear you and the Admiral have landed well. Be sure to get out and join a few groups or something so it isn't so alien and help you feel more "to home".
:hi:
