I've been lurking here since the election season when I was campaigning for Obama and finally decided to join and donate to DU.
It seemed like an appropriate first post for me - I'm sitting here watching Life of Brian (to be followed by The Holy Grail), sipping coffee, munching beignets and smoking an easter fattie!

The MSNBC series American Greed just featured a story about the Great Church Car Scam. ("Jesus wants you to have that Mercedes-Benz for just $5,000!")
Two young men in California ripped off churches--in 47 out of the 50 states--to the tune of 24 million dollars.
I don't want to post too many SPOILERS and ruin the show for you. But this national cash machine finally crashed because of a skeptical woman who happened to be the Police Chief in Higginsville, MO--population 4,000.
What an incredible story and an incredible mix of gullibility and greed with a religious veneer. I read the book about it several years ago, and the author is interviewed in the show.
The name of the book: God Wants You To Roll!
