I must be completely out of touch with The Internets and all those Tubes and such!

Registration is now open for the Alabama Freethought Association's 20th annual "Glorious Fourth" at Lake Hypatia. Early registration can be done online or by calling 608-256-8900. The deadline for ordering meals is June 24th. The event runs from July 3rd to July 5th.

Lake Hypatia, located in Munford, AL, was donated to the Freedom From Religion Foundation by Alabama Freethought Association (FFRF’s largest chapter) founders Pat and Roger Cleveland, serving as the location for an annual “advance” since 1989. Each year the grounds are opened to hundreds of freethinkers from around the country and attract a variety of speakers. Speeches are given inside the air-conditioned Lake Hypatia hall and outdoor activities take place on the Cleveland’s rural campgrounds. Lodging is located only a few miles away from the lake itself, however primitive camping is also allowed on the upper and lower campgrounds. Swimming is permitted in the lake or the Cady Creek natural lagoon, with fishing, paddle boats and dining available at the lakeside pavilion.

Registration for FFRF members is $35, with non-members paying $40. Special student prices are available also, with FFRF members paying $5 and non-members paying $10. There are also a variety of meal options, ranging from $10 to $12 per person.

This year’s speakers include Freethought Radio hosts Dan Barker and Annie Laurie Gaylor of the Freedom From Religion Foundation, former minister Bob Collins and “Atheist in a Foxhole” Jeremy Hall, as well as other interesting and engaging speakers. Events this year will include interesting and informative talks, a group hike, a “Freethought Trivial Pursuit” game with prizes, musical entertainment, a group poetry reading and an atheist vs agnostic softball game.

If you’re looking for a fun and inexpensive way to spend the 4th and would like to meet fellow freethinkers from around the country, Lake Hypatia is a great place to visit. Hope to see you there!

Here's a link to all the "Examininers" and their blogs. I like this!
