Another great way to waste time on the weekend...

"PfP" is a hilarious video rant against porn from 1965. Currently playing on TCM at 2:00 in the morning (I DVR'd it). Or you can watch it on YouTube at the link below.

I mention it in here because it has a couple of twists for modern viewers:

1. It repeats the yarn that the Founding Fathers were Xians who "turned to God" for help in writing the Constitution. So the right-wing bluenoses were pushing this idea nearly 50 years ago.

2. Also - "16 out of 19 powerful ancient civilizations collapsed because of Moral Decay from within!!!" It only mentions 3 - Egypt, Greece and Rome, none of which collapsed due to a powerful porn industry.

3. You can "write for more information" to Citizens for Decent Literature in Cincinatti, Ohio. Sound familiar? Yep, that was Charles Keating's bunch - the moralizer who persecuted Larry Flynt for years with frivolous criminal charges. And who ended up on the wrong side of the law himself, for stealing Grandma's savings in the Lincoln S&L scandal. Keating financed the production of this video gem.

4. Viewing porn can turn your kid gay! They're still pushing that theory, too.

5. The narrator is George Putnam, a conservative Los Angeles reporter who annoyed us for years with his "Talk Back" show. Still, Putnam was a class act compared to yahoos like Limbaugh or Beck.

And despite his mossback conservative leanings, Putnam always claimed to be a lifelong Democrat because of his respect for FDR.
