The Brazilian national team (and, in a lesser degree, Brazilian footie in general) has been taken over by evangelical "Athletes of Christ", whose most prominent example is Kaká. You might recall the
very public circle-prayer in the middle of the field they did when they won the Confederations Cup. The FIFA was not amused. The fundies, of course, whined of religion persecution.
Kaká himself, when a sports columnist wrote a few weeks ago about whether an old injury of his would be a problem (he had recently started feeling pain again), went out and said the reporter had it for him because he's a Christian. Typical.
