R&T has been flooded with posts claiming some kind of persecution complex, especially from posters who NEVER post there. Its almost as if its a coordinated effort to get a rise out of others in order to justify tombstoning them.....

It all just seems too coincidental.

If you recall, there was a 2 minute hate there focusing on an atheist woman who didn't know her place. It, along with a lot of faith-based horseshit getting media attention, reminded some DUers that they hadn't come to the R/T board to sling poo at the atheists lately.
They'd do it here if they thought they could get away with it. I'm sure quite a few of them watch this group specifically for ammo.
It's something exclusive to America's twist on Christianity. It's bred from the jingoistic idea of American exceptionalism. "I'm an American Christian, I'm better and more exceptional than those who aren't, and everybody needs to know and recognize that."

It will be very boring for some time and then things will kick up.
But I'm with the hippie on this one, this is a group of people that aren't new to DU complaining about R/T and they NEVER post there. It's weird. Or sockpuppety. Or something.

A lot of experts on how ALL atheists think all of a sudden. I was gonna post about it as well. But then it would be pointless since all us hateful bigots think exactly alike anyway. Oh and we are all selfish bastards that don't contribute to society so why should we worry? :sarcasm:

| 10. And it gets worse as the days go by. Now, apparently, we have nothing to contibute. |
|
So fuck us, huh? We don't contribute to discussion, we don't contribute to charity, we don't help the less fortunate, we don't have an informed moral center, we don't...we don't...
Just remember: Ignoring bullies only makes them worse.

simply in the name of efficiency. I get so TIRED of responding to the SAME FUCKING BULLSHIT over and over, as if we haven't even seen the idiotic arguments and talking points before.

Sorry, couldn't help myself for the ALL CAPS. Given the subject, I know all of you will get the reference.
It has been weird in R/T the past few days. Again, I can only marvel in appreciation at those who have the patience for engaging with all the BS.
For newer posters, this crap seems to...just happen every now and then. I still remember the R/T poster who wanted the mods to delete ANY derogatory mention of Xianity, because it was "persecution."
During Presidential elections, non-believers always become scapegoats for "costing the Dems votes with the religious."
As much as it pissed me off, deep in my black atheist heart, I was sort of glad when Obama invited Rick Warren to the inaugration. After all of the liberal-Xians-rule, the-fundies-are-just-a-minority nonsense flying around during the 2008 election...why, there was a (theoretically) liberal Democratic president honoring a gay-bashing asshole with a Bible.
IIRC, after that I was even mean enough to post stuff like: "Don't feel so bad. I'm sure Jim Wallis was supposed to speak, but just couldn't make the inaugration."

It was late when I posted and I was in a hurry. I'm sort of surprised it resembles English as much as it does...
Yes, after thinking about it, I believe the poster was complaining about "not enough respect in R/T."

to remind them that respect is earned, not granted automatically to people who demand it.
I'm also nasty enough to remind them that the reason they're lumped in with the Dominionists, Moonies, C-Street nutbars and other crazy people is that they've done nothing to repudiate that level of heresy, preferring a phony Xtian solidarity with people who should have been given the cold shoulder many years ago.
I don't go to that sink of mass delusion very often, though.
