in Louisiana had the colossal nerve to try to assert his rights. It seems to me that's what set it off. They were absolutely enraged. I'm sure you noticed that there were a bunch of gratuitous smears against the kid in particular, as well as atheists in general, on those threads.

| 5. Must not be 'antagonistic' enough. |

Though I am reminded of something Skinner said about the Skeptics group--that skeptics are less fragile than woo-sters and can handle more direct bullshit and attacks.

| 10. Well, according to some |
|
atheism is a "privileged viewpoint" in R/T. Still waiting for them to explain what this "privilege" consists of.

Also (perhaps counter-intuitively for some) we get to worry about dying a whole lot less.
I totally feel privileged!

| 13. That almost defines us as "spiritual..." |
|
According to what I read in R/T, anyway.
In fact, after consulting Plato, Thomas Aquinas, St. Anselm, Martin Luther, Kant, Buber, Jim Wallis, Shirley MacLaine and Sylvia Browne...plus my awesome collection of "Religion & Philosophy" links which is so large I have it stored separately on a 2 Tb external hard drive...I have formulated the following definition of "spiritual" which I'm sure everyone on DU will agree with:
Spiritual = a typical religious person who is too lazy to get up and go to church on Sunday.

| 15. FWIW: Serial rapists priests have guilt-free sexual relations. |
|
Especially now that the Church released a report showing that they're really the victims.

| 17. I've always thought that passages from the Bible would be nice. |
|
"Judges 19:22-29" or "Matthew 6:5" for example.
