Showtime cable channel is currently showing "The Tillman Story," the 2010 documentary about the mysterious death of Pat Tillman in Afghanistan. You can also watch it online, in various places.
I don't want to ruin it for people who haven't seen it, so just a couple of on-topic points:
Everyone goes out of their way to avoid the dreaded A-WORD. Tillman is usually just referred to as "not religious."
We do get to hear the radio interview with the original Army investigator, who claims the Tillman family is being so tenacious because "atheists believe when they die, they're just worm food. I dunno how an atheist thinks..." Etc.
And just this very morning, over in R/T, people are clutching their pearls and having fainting spells about the "coarse and violent language" of...Gnu Atheists!
We also see the original footage of John McCain blathering about God at the memorial service. Followed by Tillman's youngest brother saying: "He's not with God. He's fucking dead."
Probably the most enraging part is seeing our most senior military leaders, and their boss Don Rumsfeld, testifying before a Congressional committee. Every last one of them uses a Nuremberg Defense. And they get away with it. On edit: more like a Sgt. Schultz defense - "I knew nothing..."
According to some IMdb posters, this documentary was seriously cut to 94 minutes for theatrical release. It was originally intended to be 2.5 hours long. I'd really like to see that version.
