5. It's been used by the majority to dismiss minority concerns for generations.

Militant feminists. Militant blacks. Militant homosexuals. The conservative status quo fought all of them.

NONE of those terms would be allowed today on DU - yet militant atheist is A-OK. Maybe someday the conservative religionists will lose. I just didn't expect to have to fight them on a progressive message board.
