BSG discussion without spoilers (up to the last episode)
Okay, I think I've got an idea for how they'll save Sharon's baby. Baltar discovers that something to do with the baby's heritage will enable it (through special antibodies or something) to be used to treat Roslin's cancer.

Also, I thought a discussion on the Pegasus issue would be fruitful. What led to the Pegasus' cannibalising its civilian fleet and turning Abu Ghraib? Was it just because Cain was a bloodthirsty psycho? Or was Adama just a great guy who stopped it from happening with Galactica?

I think it's because of Roslin. The civilians had a legitimate political leader to look to, and so Adama never had absolute power over the fleet. Presumably (pending future episodes which may or may not deal with the issue), no civilian leadership took the lead with the Pegasus fleet, so everyone looked to Cain. Absolute power and absolute corruption and all that jazz follows.

Did everyone get the message that the Pegasus had more than one Cylon prisoner to start with, and had basically set up rape rooms? Chilling. I can't wait for Adama to get his hands on the log books, start questioning people, and instill some proper discipline over there. And some punishments wouldn't be bad.

Does anyone else think the Pegasus won't be around much longer? Having two battlestars just throws the balance of the show off, I think.

Enough rambling.

1. Pegasus will return to Caprica to retake that planet
Galactica will proceed towards Earth with the rest of the fleet.

That's my take!

2. I don't see how that's possible
unless they rework Pegasus' networks and fix their Vipers back to Mark II specs.

Plus, won't the Cylons just re-re-take Caprica again?

4. The Pegasus must have reworked their entire network already
According to the Pegasus' XO, they'd already been fighting the Cylons since the attack.
They would have had to already retrograde their computer system to fight the Cylons. How they knew to
do that, I'm not sure...

Although they didn't even mention it in the three episodes that the Pegasus has been in so far,
I'd bet it will come up soon.

5. The Whole Thing Could Have Been A Cylon
ploy. Let Pegasus lull Galactica and fleet into a false sense of security and then ambush the fleet from within via remote control. Kinda like a BSG Trojan horse. I also see the possibility of a catastrophic accident that destroys Pegasus.

6. Stop giving the writers ideas!
Seriously, though, I would like having the Pegasus around for a while.
Moore's shown that he's not following the original storyline completely...I like the difference.
But the days of the Pegasus could be numbered.

7. Yeah, It's A Pretty Kick Ass Wessel.
I especially liked seeing Galactica and Pegasus fighting side-by-side against the Cylon Res. ship and fleet. It just seemed right. A little off topic, but does anyone else think that BSG does large-scale space battles better then anyone else previous?

9. much better
they actually treat spacecraft like spacecraft, not aircraft. No banking turns or strafing runs. Use all 360 degrees of movement around all three axes.

I think Pegasus is doomed, but when will be up to the writers, of course. One problem is, what happens when (not if) word gets out about the previous fleet Pegasus had accumulated? I think they'll deal with stuff like that, Adama will be tested, Starbuck will get even wackier, and then it blows up or something at the end of the season for a dramatic cliffhanger.

10. They do a gorgeous job.
The arms of the base stars falling apart under fire was stunning, I thought.

11. They Give The Battles An Uncanny Depth,..
both visually and tactically. A great example is the Yin Yang style maneuver that Galactica and Pegasus ran against base stars on either side of them. I also wonder if the symbolism was intentional. I can't wait for tonight.

12. Babylon 5?
Graphics technology aside, it will take a lot to move B5 from best space battle position. (IMHO0

BUT. I think BSG is right up there!

3. I think the Pegasus will go down in flames...
the Cylons launch a big attack on the fleet and the remaining crew of the Pegasus delay the cylon attack to allow the rest of the fleet to escape... the crew wants to make up for the behavior of Cain.

8. My ideas? Baltar & the Scruffy #6 will take the Pegasus,
and become somewhat detached from the fleet setting up Baltar's leading the Cylon in Season 4.

15. Good Call!!!

Now, what OTHER effects will that Cylon tainted blood have on the President?

And what happens to the prophecy now? She was supposed to die according to the prophecy.

16. Heh
I don't know what other effects it will have. As for the dream sequence w/Roslyn's seeing Baltar and Six on Caprica, I think that's just her subconcious putting 2 & 2 together, she didn't actually see them. And how's she going to do anything about it? She chose Baltar to be her VP, and now she's claiming he's a sympathiser because of a vision she had nearing death? Yeah, that'll fly.

As for the prophecy, three possibilities present themselves.

1. Nothing says the cancer won't come back, or that her body won't eventually have a negative reaction to the Cylon blood, causing death.

2. Someone else could start dying and take over.

3. She's already fulfilled the prophecy. She was dying, she maneuvered things to get the Arrow to Kobol, giving them a map to Earth.

After all, what was she going to do when elections came up, declare a theocracy because of the prophecy? (Although with the looniness she's been showing, I wouldn't have been surprised.)
