BSG - why all the flashback episodes?

We've had Apollo flashing back to his past, Roslin to hers, and now Starbuck to her past. I can see flashback episodes once in a while... but, so often?

1. On top of that, episodes beginning with the end.

They were doing well with linear format, but it looks like they've abandoned it completely.

2. It's one way to spread out the action

I think in this case it was OK.

The inevitable SF series episode that I get tired of is the "Infirmary Clip Show":

One of the characters is in critical condition and the entire show is clips from previous shows with short segments in the hospital. Each major character has one of these in life of a series. It's a way to squeeze in a cheap budget episode.

3. I wondered the same thing

but so far it hasn't impacted the quality IMHO. It might get a little old if they keep it up episode after episode though.
