'Galactica' Prequel on Tap at Sci Fi
(snip)
The Sci Fi Channel will delve into the backstory of "Battlestar Galactica" with a new series that looks at the years leading up to humanity's devastation by the Cylons.
(snip)

(snip)
"Caprica" will be set more than 50 years prior to the events of "Battlestar Galactica" and focus on the lives of two families -- the Adamas (ancestors of future Galactica commander William) and the Graystones. Humankind's Twelve Colonies are at peace and on the verge of a technological breakthrough: the first Cylon.

Not sure how I feel about this. Typically 'prequels' don't bother me as a general rule, although they can be tricky to do correctly and well, but given that this BSG is a remake of the old one - something just doesn't seem right about this idea. On the otherhand this BSG is really an entirely new show just loosely based on the same premise as the original so show based historical stuff should be fair game just like any other show. Also, I have a high level of confidence in the producers and writers to do it well.

1. I was just going to post this...
But I think this is going to work, and it proves me wrong about the SciFI channel.
I thought they were certainly going to try to axe Galactica after moving the season 3 premiere
to October. But I guess I was wrong.

And I think that Ron Moore and Co. can pull it off.

It will at least be better than Stargate.

2. Battlestar is just genius.
Pure, unadulterated GENIUS. From beginning to end.

I have NO idea how they're going to deal with the end of the second season. The writers wrote themselves into a corner. Knowing them, they didn't, really, but it sure as hell seems that way.

Oh, and: Baltar is a ball of slime. I love to hate him. He's soooo smarmily despicable....

And Number Six is flawless and fantastic. Just thought I'd share that. :D
