"Caprica" will be set more than 50 years prior to the events of "Battlestar Galactica" and focus on the lives of two families -- the Adamas (ancestors of future Galactica commander William) and the Graystones. Humankind's Twelve Colonies are at peace and on the verge of a technological breakthrough: the first Cylon.

Typically 'prequels' don't bother me as a general rule, although they can be tricky to do correctly and well, but given that this BSG is a remake of the old one - something just doesn't seem right about this idea. On the otherhand this BSG is really an entirely new show just loosely based on the same premise as the original so show based historical stuff should be fair game just like any other show. Also, I have a high level of confidence in the producers and writers to do it well.
