Is the author sci/fi, fantasy or what?
Some of my favorite recent reading has been by China Mieville and Neal Stephenson. While Stephenson might be considered one of the founders of cyberpunk I don't know what you call The Baroque Cycle other than outstanding. And Mieville seems more like.....hell, I don't know.
What do you think?

It displays a fantastic knowledge of European/pre-independence American history.
