Poll question: The Great Name Debate |
|
Edited on Mon Nov-22-04 03:55 PM by Chovexani
My favorite fanfilker in the whole wide world, The Great Lukeski, made a funny joke about the whole Trekkie vs. Trekker thing that pretty much sums up my opinion of the whole controversy: a Trekker is a Star Trek fan; a Trekkie is someone who insists that you call them a Trekker.
I'm a Trekkie, dammit, and if I ever get pretentious enough to demand that people call me a Trekker, you have permission to take my pointy ears and Starfleet uniform away. What's your opinion of the debate?

What does it matter.
I'd ammend it to say...
A trekkie is someone who really likes Star Trek, and could give a shit what other people think.
A trekker is someone who really likes Star Trek but has an inferiority complex.
If i'm wrong explain why.

3. Isn't it totally fucking stupid? |

I'm a nerd. A second generation nerd at that (my Mom was in the Marionette Club in high school, for god's sake).
"Trekker" just screams to me self-hating nerd who doesn't want to be lumped in with "those crazy ass Star Trek fans in the makeup who speak Klingon", and to me that attitude sucks. Trekkie is perfectly fine, wtf does it matter?
