Since everyone who cares has already seen em.
Honestly, BBC America sucks. Reruns of stuff already shown on other American channels (like Whose Line is it Anyway) or just plowing the road with episodes of what not to wear, are you being served, and Benny Hill.
8 to 9 every night are repeats of Whose line is it anyway that aired on ABC and Comedy Central over the past decade. 9pm on Tuesday they show the Avengers, and a 2 year old episdode of Doctor Who already shown on Sci-Fi a year late, and DVD after that. Not to mention the fact that most of the geeks just downloaded the episodes off the internet when they first aired.
Right now they should be airing episodes of Spooks, and The State Within, and Robin Hood, and Torchwood, to name a few. Why doesn't the Sci-Fi channel freaking buy the rights to air those at least nearly simultaneously?
Bah to BBC America.

2. BBC won't allow them to be aired simultaneously. |
|
I read that in order for Sci-Fi to get the rights to air Doctor Who they had to agree to the BBC's air dates-at least 6-9 months after the BBC shows them.
It sucks but that's the way it goes.

3. Oh I don't blame the Sci-Fi channel |
|
I blame the BBC. They're either putting long term holds on airing their shows elsewhere, or asking for an insane ammount of money for them, which Sci-Fi simply can't afford.
The problem is that the BBC is producing some good stuff, and by the time it gets over here people have already seen it, so the ratings suck, so the channel's are loathe to show any of it at all. When they finally do, nearly everyone who cares would watch it.
For instance what if Battlestar Galactica's current season that's airing on Sci-FI right now, had been aired in England 2 years ago, and had already been all around the internet in torrents, and on DVD on ebay illegally. Then a year ago it has been released on DVD in good clarity. Then had been reran earlier in the year on BBC America.
Now after all that lets say that the Sci-Fi channel decides to air it. What kinds of ratings should we expect? Piss poor I'd imagine, which reflects badly on the show as a whole. Sure there are probably people who haven't seen it yet, but not many at this point who actually care.
I just don't get the BBC.
