| Poll question: BSG. I've never seen an entire episode of this series. |
|
Now that you all know the ending, is it worth my going and getting the Season DVDs?
Yay or Nay?

but ends with a whimper.
If you really like science fiction (the key word being "science") and good characterization, you'll thoroughly enjoy the first two seasons. But then they started injecting more and more non-science stuff into the mix until they had boxed themselves in, leaving only a deus ex machina as a vain attempt to explain it all.
I watched every show, including the pilot, and thought it was an excellent series. However, the last half of this season their reach extended their grasp.
I suspect that once R. Moore had "Caprica" green-lighted, he monkeyed around with BSG in an attempt to tie together the two series. Oh, and he's got another two-hour BSG planned in the Fall. It'll answer more unanswered questions, supposedly.

The end of Galactica has a much different feel than the beginning, to be sure: it starts as a post-apocalyptic character drama bordering on the horrific, and ends as high opera with metaphysical overtones. But that doesn't mean it's not still good (even if it's not to one's tastes), or that it's not still a cohesive narrative.
