"Enterprise" Opening Music and Credits - alternate version - must see! |
|
Fans and non-fans of Enterprise often complain about the theme music.
Here is an alternate. I'm not sure if it was actually produced and considered by Paramount or if it is fan produced - but it looks real.

3. They just put the ending credits to Star Trek 7 onto the video. |
|
Edited on Sun Nov-28-04 07:37 PM by Endangered Specie
edit: but it is kinda nice... it does match a little bit with points in the video.
further edit: the video used is from seasons 1 and 2 (in which they omitted "star trek" from the title of the show, and added it for season 3 to present)
Which means it was made during the season 1,2 version of the song which was bad, but improved some is season 3,4.

4. There's also an alternate opening |
|
. . . on the official site. I can't seem to find a D/L version, but it's a small .mov stream. I hoped they would have used this version for the rest of season four. The stream can be found here. 5. I like the ST Enterprise Theme |
|
At first I was shocked, nothing like any other Star Trek series. However, Enterprise is set in a time much closer to our own. The theme song portrays a feeling of hope for the future with a more contemporary feel. Combined with the video, a chronology from early sailing ships, through modern space travel, to future warp technology, and you have a true "Faith of the Heart."
I will review the listed link above, but it will be hard to beat the current theme.

6. I listened to it....... ick or yuck or.... |
|
A quote from Amadeus comes to mind. "names so lofty, they sound as if they shit marble." Too austere, do you really get the feeling of hope for humankind's future with the alternate?
The original theme, Faith of the heart, is about faith, not in some imaginary god, but in humankind, of what we can all attain as a people. Times are dark, I would hope our species can evolve beyond our current sickness. That is why I watch Trek, and that is why I like the current theme.
Peace

Im of the opinion that insturmental music is equal to and often better at expressing emotion than lyrical, especially classical.
Also, it feels more in the line of the tradition of Star Trek to use symphonic music.
The more I listen to that opening, the more I like it.

I listened to the alternate a few more times. I have become used to the official theme, and have probably become biased. I have to admit, I like the alternate theme apart from the video back drop. The only part of the alternate which fits well with the current video is toward the end with the emergence of the classic Star Trek leitmotif in conjunction with Cochran's first warp flight.
The official version fits better with the video sequence, especially the clips showing the early astronauts.
Anyway, I am glad we can discuss this, agree or disagree. ST Enterprise has been much maligned and I am pleased to see that others are watching.

It is totally not Star Trek: why are only American achievements shown? Where is sputnik? Gagarin? even von Braun and Lillienthal .
