| 2. When I was very young, "Grey" aliens scared the shit out of me |
|
I couldn't watch Close Encounters without very nearly vomiting because my fear was so profound. I no longer harbor this fear, really, and I flatly don't believe that UFOs are alien visitors.
However...
I still feel that same old twinge when Grays are portrayed in certain ways on-screen. In the "Smoking Alien" episode of The X-Files, for instance, a "Gray" is seen at the foot of someone's bed, and it lunges suddenly at the camera. In an episode of House, a kid thought he'd been repeatedly abducted, and during one hallucination sequence he saw three or four "Grays" hazily milling about in his hospital room. Both of these stir that anxiety in me.
The morphing of the white owl in the trailer is a similarly effective evocation, and the guy sitting up so suddenly is quite jarring, as well.
I fear that this movie simply won't be all that great, but I'll give it props for working hard to create an appropriately creepy atmosphere.

| 3. Wow, I guess there are aliens after all. |
|
Apparently they abducted Nome, Alaska and stuck it in northern California.
Trailer looks like any dime a dozen horror fil they're making these days.
