| Just watched Forbidden Planet again for the first time in quite a few years.. |

I have to say that the story line and the visual FX both stand up well to the passage of time and the score/sound FX beat a lot of far more modern flicks.. It's interesting that the FP sound FX sound eerily like the radio emissions coming from Saturn as recorded by the NASA Cassini mission. http://www.nasa.gov/mission_pages/cassini/multimedia/pia07966.htmlhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZIuc1_Qg4A8

| 1. I hadn't realized the sound similarity--very cool! |

One thing that really stunned me, when I first saw the film in 1994 or so, was that they had a hyperdrive. Up until that point I'd simply assumed that this particular label for FTL tech was a Star Wars invention!

I was actually surprised at how well it had held up too... visual FX and story even. The sound FX established a mood that still held up, and the older film style actually helped to up the creep level.
