Need to buy organic seeds ..but from who?....

There are so many suppliers online ... is there any consensus among those here where you can buy organic seed at a good price ?

I hate to say it but that term sounds like a marketing phrase to fool unsuspecting people into buying non heirloom seeds.
I have seeds that are hybrids but,hey,they were grown organicly!

16. Organic does not mean heirloom

To be organic means that the plants were grown without chemicals and the seed is not treated with chemicals. I don't think that any company dealing in organic seed would go to the trouble of producing GM organically grown seed since many GM seeds are engineered to be used with chemicals like RoundUp.

are also very big on heirloom varieties, as well. You just have to look at what varieties you are buying.

heritage is important.
I try to buy seeds from heirlooms that are localized to the soil and weather conditions of my area, West Central Arkansas.
The County Extension, local library, the local Co-Op, and the Old Timers are good places to find out "What grows best right here?"

The Old Timers are one of the very best sources of information, and they are generally happy to talk about their gardens. Somebody who has been growing vegetables for 50 years in your neighborhood, or families that have been growing vegetables for several generations, KNOW what grows best in your area. Ask several, and they will generally agree on their answers.
If you are polite enough, they MIGHT even turn you on to their private seed stock that has been in their family for generations.

From all over the world, that sit in planters. and look beautiful.

Our garden tends to be from seeds we saved last year, and also whatever is cheapest from the local drug store or hardware store. But you are reminding me that probably I could get stuff for the garden from Seeds Of Change.
