3. Thanks kindly, folks. Please visit and comment at the OP link in General Discussion. |

Much appreciated. I'd hope this OP can serve as an antidote to the news (faux and otherwise) that drowns out the sounds of the real world for too many of y'all right now.

Beautifully written. Whitman, especially Leaves of Grass, is one of our favorites.
In 2006, my Wife & I moved to The Woods (Ouachita Mountains, Arkansas) with a commitment to live as Sustainably as possible. Since we can't grow Citrus, we rely on a variety of Berries & Grapes. We planted a Blueberry Patch, 24 Rabbit Eyes. They are now almost waist high and giving us luscious, tart, tasty Berries. The Drought & Heat was bad this year, but they did OK. The Berries were smaller, and the skins a little thicker, but the taste was delightful, and the preserves will be a bright spot in Mid-Winter.
Thanks for this post. We have made a promise to each other read aloud a page from Leaves of Grass at sunset. With all the Work, and the tendency to make Lists Tasks Undone at sunset, we sometimes forget to slow-the-fuck-down, and just sit in gratitude for the gifts.
The Ruby Throated Hummingbird without the Ruby Throat is the female. Only the males have the Ruby Splash on the throat.
If you're ever in the neighborhood, you are invited for Cornbread & Green Beans.
