I was just looking for a few bee supplies online (veil and such to use so I can move my bees to my brother's house) and ran across this slide show http://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2009/11/04/us/politics/20091104_BEES_SS1/index.html

I buy locally harvested orange blossom honey which is delicious, but would love to taste basswood blossom honey. Especially from Obama's White House.

Early last year a swarm showed up on the WH grounds. Blessings from the bee goddess, the WH carpenter is also a bee keeper (that's him in the protective gear). With approval from POTUS and FLOTUS, he built the girls that high rise hive. It's built that way so the girls fly above WH visitors; it's strapped down because of prop wash from Marine One.
Their honey is used in the WH kitchen and given away as gifts.
Latest report, they're doing well and it's a win-win for all.
Honey bees: Take little and give much in return.
