Keb ' Mo' " Back by popular demand " this was reviewed in the trades as one of those c.d.s with a few good tunes by someone probably from a mosh pit.Okay is does have some klunkers but the good songs are great songs done buy a real honest guy who is into peace and love and not trends.="For what it's worth" and " Talk " will hit home. on Okeh.records (part of epic) #2 Solomon Burke " a change is gonna come " 1986 on Rounder Records. -this is going to be harder to get but worth it. beware there are some new Solomon Burke recordings that are not using his talent well, this title track says it all and sounds like it was recorded yesterday........ Like all of us i go and buy c.d.s and wonder if i am missing something when I listen to them, true there was a time when music wasn't so corporate , a time when the people that worked at recod lables were lovers of music instead of lovers of the bottom line. The good stuff is out there hiding......

"The good stuff is out there hiding"...... Very true. It's so difficult to find a variety of music on the radio, and of course they're exploiting all the music of my youth to sell cars and whatnot. The nadir was when they appropriated "The Weight" for a cell phone ad.
By the way, I work part-time for an independent book and music store, and even there it's hard to get a feel for the really good stuff coming down the pike. The only way I'd ever hear Kate Rusby or Carrie Newcomer is through my job or, with luck, stumbling onto an opportune moment in Mary Cliff's "Traditions" program.
