| Skiing - What Do You Need |
|
My husband and I (Florida natives) are going skiing in Park City (UT) next month. We've been skiing once before (8 years ago) and have no plans to do it a lot in the future.
Last time we borrowed a bunch of stuff from a friend of a friend who was an avid skier, but we have since lost touch.
We plan on renting the skis and poles, etc there but what do we need by way of clothing and gear? Can we rent everything we need there or are there some things that would be better to bring ourselves?
Again, we are Florida natives and not used to the cold, neither do we really have clothing meant for wetness and freezing temperatures. By the same token, living in Florida, I do not want to shell out a lot of money for gear/clothing that won't get much use.
I am not sure if this is the best forum for my question, I may have to post elsewhere if I don't get a lot of response.

You just need few basic things. You might have better luck finding what you need on the mountain but you will pay a premium price.
------ a ski bib
A coat with a hood - I usually prefer to use a shell. You can always add or remove layers as needed. If it is very cold a down coat is both light and warm.
warm gloves
wool socks
long underwear
A ski helmet or at least a warm hat that covers your ears
Goggles
sun screen
