I lost all my deer rifles, including two brownings and a custom Mauser .243. I lost most of my shotguns, including two over and unders. I got my insurance settlement, which was about half the replacement cost. I'm thinking of streamlining my collection-two twelve gauge autoloaders and a twenty side by side. Maybe a single shot .270 and a 7mm mag Remington. (and a really good gun safe!) Any suggestions?

Don't know much about shotguns.
For a single-shot rifle, the Thompson Contenders are really nice. Best iron sights I have ever seen. I tend to prefer military-sized ammunition because of its availibility. Consequently, I would prefer 0.308 for a high-power rifle.

what sort of security did you have to prevent the guns being stolen?
Just wondering. I'm assuming it must have been fairly good if the insurance paid out?
