I would like to propose a new group for those of us that recreate in the great outdoors outside of hunting. I am not anti-hunting, I do hunt myself, and enjoy my firearms. I am also an active hiker, river rafter, mushroom hunter, biker, birder, and traveler to remote locations across this land. I am interested in sharing these interests with like minded people. As I understand the rules we need ten members with donor stars to discuss and agree to a mission statement for the group. Proposed Mission Statement: The purpose of the Outdoor Recreation Group is to share information and experiences related to all activities, outside of hunting, that make use of the Great American landscape. Post comments here and I will present the post to Skinner if enough interest is generated.

I'm not anti-hunting either and I do like to fish occassionally, but my favorite outdoor activity is backpacking. I can't do it much anymore these days because I have a four-year-old. Too big to carry, too little to walk very far. But we manage a lot of car-camping trips into remote areas and take smaller hikes.
I'm also a big birder and wildlife watcher. I'm fascinated with native plants and the wildlife communities they live in and I love exploring any back roads I can find on a map.

I love hiking, camping, canoeing and especially love to go to places I have never been before. I rarely hike the same trail more than once :-).
Sounds like a good place to share info.

I love the four corners area. I am also not anti-hunting. Used to hunt elk in Colorado every year, now it's just too crowded to hunt. Its like going to a theme park, no thanks. I' rather go fishing at Lake Powell in November anyway. Would like to share and find new places.

| 6. Why don't you start discussions in this group? |
|
It is not as if they will get pushed off the first page in a hurry like in GD or the Lounge.

I love to hike and mountainclimb. I'm not a hunter but I'm not anti-gun. Very rarely do guns bring me to the outdoors.
