| Fly fishing in Utah-Colorado |
|
Edited on Sat Mar-04-06 11:48 AM by OnionPatch
I'm not a regular in this forum because I don't hunt or fish, but I thought I might get some good info from you all anyway.
I've managed to talk my husband into a cross-country road trip this summer where the ultimate destination is my sister's place in Michigan.....not too awful exciting for him tho he likes my sister just fine.
We'll be leaving from southern California and will end up taking I-70 through Utah and Colorado. I was thinking, to make him a little happier, that we could stop for a whole day of fishing somewhere in either of those states. I know the Green River is in northern Utah but it's a little off our track. I haven't counted it out yet, maybe it won't be too out of the way, but I thought I'd ask if anyone knows of any other great fly-fishing places in Colorado or Utah. His favorite fish to land are trout, of course.
We'll also be going through Nebraska, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana and will end up in the "middle of the mitten" (around Lansing, Michigan). Any good fishing anywhere in those places?
I appreciate any suggestions. You'll be helping me make a man very happy.

I'll check it out. I've been surfing around and found some similar sites. It looks like there are a ton of places but I'm thinking we should veer north and hit the Green River even if it is out of the way a little. Haven't talked to dh yet but I'm sure he'll agree.

| 3. There are some great places in Michigan to fly fish too! |

I took it up about five years ago, but am no expert and don't get out enough to do it, but I can get some info here in Michigan for you if you'd like. If you want to PM me where more specifically in Michigan you will be staying, I will ask my "expert" SO who lives and breathes fly fishing.
Lot's of people fish the Sixth Street dam in Grand Rapids (Grand River) and there are some wonderful little spots in Rockford, but I don't know where "middle of the mitten" is for you.
